Free Ripple Crochet Patterns

Are you looking for some free ripple crochet patterns that are simple to make yourself? Over the course of the last few months I have created my own version of the classic ripple pattern in two different versions of afghans.

I won’t begin to take credit for the classic design of the ripple but I have crocheted several over the decades. There are many variations of the basic design.  So, I like to vary the size of the ripple or wave effect to create something unique and different each time.

The first ripple afghan that I designed earlier this year was for a gift for my soon to be born Granddaughter as a shower gift. The Ripple Crochet Baby Afghan that I made is done in shades of pinks and greens to go in the nursery that my daughter decorated. You can use the same pattern for free and crochet it in the colors that will work for you. These afghans make wonderful baby gifts and really do not take very long to make.

After finishing the smaller afghan, I decided that I wanted to make a new one for our home. My choice for this afghan used a variation with wider and more pronounced points. My Medicine Wheel Ripple Afghan was created with the colors of the Native American Medicine wheel as a spiritual statement along with something to keep us cozy this winter.

Crocheting your own afghan or making one as a gift is both rewarding and relaxing. At least it is for me.  Take a look at both free ripple crochet patterns and feel free to use one or both of them to make your own.
