One of the up and coming trends for weddings and events has to do with centerpieces — specifically — lighting to your centerpieces.

Ambient lighting has long been a part of decor for weddings and events. Finding new, different and affordable ways to light your centerpieces is not always easy. A few years ago, some venues starting banning “open flames” such as candles and luminaries due to their fire hazard and insurance policies.

Enter l.e.d. lighting. The letters stand for light emitting diode. Simply put, they are small but strong rays of lights that can be used to create ambiance in your centerpieces. In today’s market, there are lots of products that can assist you in lighting your centerpieces without having to hire a lighting company. Lighting companies do a fantastic job nut simply don’t fit into everyone’s budget.

Alternately, you can still have lighted centerpieces but at an affordable price.

  1. Lighted Bases – Lighted bases are made to have centerpieces placed on top of them. They usually have 8 to 30+ lights in them that shoot up through your centerpiece. Most are battery operated or rechargeable units so you don’t have to deal with cords on your guest tables.
  2. Waterproof Lights – There are l.e.d. lights made to work in water. You simply turn them on and drop them into your container. They shoot light up through the liquid and filler you have used for your centerpiece. They can be strategically placed with the filler to light areas you desire.
  3. Wire Lights – These are very useful in a floral or branch arrangements. They are wires with small l.e.d. lights embedded that can be woven through the arrangement. Most are battery operated, but some require an outlet — which would work fine for a large arrangement on a pedestal at an entrance, next to a cake table or stage. Also available are branches with l.e.d. lights embedded. These make an attractive addition to florals or can even be used by themselves in a gorgeous container.
  4. Floralytes – These small lights are available to add almost anywhere in your centerpiece. Centerpieces don’t have to be florals to benefit from these l.e.d. lights. Using clear or colored non-opaque containers filled with floral gems, gift bag shred, crystals, tall vases with lamp shades on top and the lights mounted in the lamp shade and so many other options are available. Use some creativity to come up with your own unique design. Floralytes are available in either one-time use or units with on-off switches so you can use them again.
