Grandma On The Internet

April 15, 2010 | Author: | Posted in About Me

In today’s world being a Grandma on the internet isn’t really all that unusual. More and more of us Baby Boomers are using the internet to socialize, find information, blog, shop, and yes even some of us sell things on the world wide web. With the state of the economy as it is, many people are turning to computers to help supplement their incomes and grandparents are no exception. Let me share with you a little about myself, an internet Grandma who is having a wonderful time with a relatively new endeavor.

The world of computing is not new to me, I’ve been doing this since the late 1980s when I purchased my first PC for my daughters to use in their education. It didn’t take long for me to become the neighborhood “geek” that everyone came to for help. That was before Windows and the very beginning of the internet. I’ve seen many a change in the way this technology works. It has been a fun and sometimes frustrating ride.

Maybe I should get to the Grandma part of this article first. I am a Grandmother to two lovely little girls and they truly are the joy of my life. Since I spend so much time on the computer with several internet endeavors I started to wonder how I could begin to connect with other Grandmas out there and share some experience with them.

Writing has been a passion of mine since I was a very young girl and I spend a lot of time writing here on the internet. A few short months ago, I realized that I could combine my passion for writing and my love of being a Grandmother by creating short articles about gifts for grandchildren. Reviewing toys, nursery items and other products geared toward children.

I shop quite a lot on the internet, looking for things that I can purchase for my granddaughters. So, the idea came to me to write about that. Share the shopping ideas with other Grandparents out there. A sort of service, if you will, for assisting in finding gifts and little treasures for the precious little bundles of joy who have brightened our lives. Offering lighthearted little reviews of products for several ages. So I started a little blog called Gifts From Grandma and I’m really having a lot of fun with it. Come on over and sit a spell with me!

A real persona has grown from this little blog and I’m beginning to be recognized in many places as Grandma Bev. A moniker I wear proudly. I wrote an article, just recently, to keep a chronicle of different places that Grandma Bev can be found. Introducing Grandma Bev outlines what I’ve been up to as a Grandma on the internet along with links to places to connect with me on. Please feel free to stop by sometime for a visit. We can sit in the rocking chairs on the porch and brag about our grandkids together.
