If you have a great website with excellent content, you should be attracting the customers you want to drive your business, right?  Well, no, that is not right.  You need more than good content to drive search traffic to your website or web page.

It is very important to have good solid content on your website.  Your content should be clear, concise, and should give customers or readers the information that they have searched for.  However, content alone is not enough to get the search engine traffic that will drive business to your site.

Just like anything else in business, you need to drive traffic to your website.  Online traffic has to be drive to the website in a different way than offline traffic.  Regular marketing techniques do not work online, because people do not behave the same way online that they don offline.

In order to get traffic, at least traffic that will be most likely to buy from you, or be interested in your topic, you need search engine traffic, traffic that is generated from people finding you when they look up things on search engines like Google or Yahoo.  Search engine traffic is what currently drives most online businesses.  People that search are looking for specific search terms or keywords that will help them find what they want.  To get search engine traffic, you need to add those keywords into your content.
