The Cliff Richard Calendar was the best selling male celebrity calendar on Amazon UK in 2011. So what you may snort. But when you look at who Cliff Richard is, then you will understand what a remarkable achievement this is.
Cliff Richard hit the British Pop scene in 1958, which means he has been in Show Biz for over 50 years. So, aged 70 his calendar outsold younger whippersnappers like Justin Bieber, Jedward and Peter Andre!
Over the years, Cliff has become a British Icon. But I should not really call him Cliff – his correct title is Sir Cliff Richard as in 1998 he received a knighthood from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for services to charity. A born again Christian, as well as doing sell out tours, singing his very special brand of popular music, he also does Gospel Tours for charity.
These days Cliff has slowed down a bit, but he still tours more than a lot of the younger performers currently on the Pop scene.
Cliff Richard has been awarded nearly every award possible and shows no signs of retiring. He has homes in the UK, Portugal and Barbados, where he helps raise money for local charities. But in the British winter months he is often to be found performing in Australia and New Zealand.
I wonder if the 2012 Cliff Richard Calendar will once again be the best selling male celebrity calendar on this side of the pond?
