Types of Men’s Hats

Besides the common baseball cap or trucker’s hats that are so prevalent today, what other types of men’s hats are there? In the not so distant past men wore hats with style. Young men are starting to bring those hat types back into fashion again and I think that is really cool.

Our grandfathers wore hats called top hats when they were going to a formal affair. Casual wear might find them wearing a boater which was usually made of straw and had a wide ribbon around it. It wasn’t uncommon to see a Frenchman wearing a beret and now even women like to wear that type of hat.

Men dressed in suits sometimes favored a Homberg hat which is characterized with a single crease (with no dents) in the crown. The brim usually rolls upward with a Homberg type of hat.  Another choice for dressing up or casual wear in mens hats is the fedora. Like the Homberg it also has a single dent in the crown but it also has a dent on each side of the front. The Fedora is my favorite type of a hat for men. Memories of well dressed business men and movie stars wearing a fedora make it so appealing. Young men are bringing this hat type back into fashion.

Say goodbye to those baseball caps and hello to some real style with a type of men’s hat that was worn in the past.
