Centerpieces for Weddings and Events
Centerpieces are an intrigual part of decorating for any event — particularly centerpieces for weddings. Brides and event hosts alike, are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to dazzle their guests with a design that will incorporate creativity, uniquness and bring a personal element to the event — all through their centerpiece displays.
Cookie-cutter centerpieces have run their course — they are a thing of the past. However, coming up with a unique centerpiece option, creating continuity and all the while, keeping your guests comfort in mind is also challenging. Whther you plan DIY centerpieces or use a professional, there are some steps that will assist you in choosing just the right centerpiece for your event.
- Be Specific/Niche – Events that have a specific theme can actually help you come up with new and different centerpiece ideas. Themed centerpieces continue the overall theme of your event. Choose a general theme and then niche it down. For instance, “Hollywood” themes are a great start but focus more. Will it be “Vintage Hollywood” or “Movie Night” or “Oscars Parties” that you really want to highlight? This will help you in choosing what to include and eliminate generic decor ideas. A theme that has personal meaning is a great way to go as well. (Will you honeymoon in Paris, did you meet at the golf course, will you be living in the country, etc…?
- What size are your tables? Are you having a plate served meal with all the trimmings or a buffet service? Answering these questions will help you decide how much room you have on your tables for a centerpiece. There is nothing worse than having such a huge centerpiece that the necessary tableware and glassware won’t fit or looks like an after thought.
- Is there a focal point for your guests? Can all your guests see it?
These and many more questions should be answered prior to deciding and/or purchasing anything to use for your centerpieces.
Another fallacy is that all your centerpieces have to be the same. Nothing is more boring to the eye than a sea of exactness. Your eye finds no place to rest. It should roam up and down, left and right and will rest on the different levels as well as colors. Use two or more different sizes, shapes and even colors to create visual interest.
The best lesson is to do your research prior to design and purchase and you will be much happier with the final outcome. Good luck!
