Collecting Antique Tea Cups

One of the popular antique items to collect is antique tea cups.  Collect antique tea cups is quite popular because you can assemble a lovely collection to display or use, or both, without having to be wealthy to do it. Collecting antique tea cups is fun because you can mix and match both the designs, and the styles of cups and saucers, as well as the manufacturers.

This is the type of collection you can take up and add to every time you go on a vacation, or have a Saturday to yourself.  You can go by yourself, because tea cups are not heavy to carry, or you and a friend can build a collection together.

Decorative tea cups were especially popular during the Victorian era, when the British especially took tea time to its highest form.  Tea, in Britain, is a meal that is usually taken in the afternoon, but during the Victorian era, when ornate design was in, tea sets became very decorative.

It is much more enjoyable to drink a cup of tea out of a beautiful cup, and many designers and manufacturers have made pieces of tea cup art over the years.  You can find an antique tea and saucer set in many antique shops for about $30, which is a reasonable amount to spend on gift for someone else or yourself.
