Best Laptop 2011

Best Laptop 2011 is a collection of pages about laptop buying options. One of my goals for 2011 is to be able to earn enough money to justify buying a laptop. I have a beautiful garden and I would like to be able to do my writing outside in the Summer.

However, when I started looking at Laptops, in order to get an idea of how much money I should budget for, I realised that buying the Best Laptop is not so simple as you would expect. I had an idea of “sort of” what I should be looking for and “sort of” how much a new laptop would cost but I soon came to realise that in order to get a best buy laptop, I had to have an idea of what I needed the Laptop for.

The questions I had to ask myself included:

Will I be using the laptop for gaming? Answer = No

I don’t have time for gaming!

Will I be multi tasking on the laptop? Answer = Yes, most definitely.

When I am writing a page I have multiple programs running. They include Word, for drafting the content, Notepad for designing HTML, Exel for noting the results of my Keyword Research and working out the best keywords and I always have multiple browser tabs open in Firefox.

I also frequently have Microsoft Publisher open for designing clickable links, Photoshop Elements open if I want to improve a photo I am using and then there’s Tweetdeck. I love Twitter but one of the drawbacks to Tweetdeck is that it can slow things up.

So the amount of multi tasking I do means that I need a very fast Processor.

I also want the laptop to be ultraportable, so it needs to be fairly compact and of course if I want to carry it around with me, then this “Diva” will want a funky laptop bag.

Then there’s the peripherals. Separate keyboard, mouse and screen for when I want to work in my office. A laptop is handy for working outside but in the office, it is best to connect it up to a screen that you can have at the right height plus ergonomic keyboard and mouse. My preference is a wireless keyboard and mouse, which will make it less of a chore to connect up the laptop to the peripherals.

So far, during the course of my research I have checked out the Best Gamer Laptop (not for me but to see how my son’s laptop stands up to what serious gamers say is needed), Best Laptop Processor, Best Lightweight Laptop, Best Laptop Brand, Best Buy Notebook and the Best Laptop Bags.

I have combined all these pages into a Laptop Buying Guide that I have published as Best Laptop 2011. I still have a long way to go to copmplete my research but I am certainly learning a lot about Laptops!
