Bullying Help
Bullying Help is a new website that has been set up to help the victims of bullying and also the parents of children who are bullied at school.
For parents learning how to complain to the school, particularly if your child has never been bullied, can be a daunting task but Bullying Help has some articles that may help. They have been written by a Mom, whose daughter was bullied for nearly three years, who kept a Diary of her experience and who has written articles documenting what she learned and how the problem was finally resolved.
So what do you need to do if the bullying continues and you need to complain to the school. Here’s some of the tips you will find on Bullying Help:
1. Put all concerns and complaints in writing – right from the very start. Do not assume a friendly word with the class teacher will resolve the problem
2. Don’t assume that the nicest teacher in the school will be the best person to deal with the situation. They may not be good at dealing with confrontational parents and many kids who bully at school are bullied at home – by their parents
3. Keep a record of EVERYTHING that happens, including keeping a diary. It may be important to establish exactly when the bullying started and how long it has been going on for
4. Ask to see your child’s school record, to make sure all your letters and emails are properly documented. This may be important if you have to complain to the Education Authority
5. Ask to see the school’s anti-bullying policy (required by law in the UK and some US States) – you may need to refer to it in meetings.
6. Before you attend any meetings at the school, research bullying. This may help you if the school will not accept your child is being bullied.
