Autumn In Indiana
Indiana is filled with many areas that are wooded which makes autumn quite spectacular. As Mother Nature paints with only the colors she can conjure up on a palette, the landscape in my home state becomes breathtakingly beautiful in the fall. In most cases, one does not have to travel far to enjoy the vibrant colors as the leaves begin to turn to yellows, oranges, and reds.
Because we are still somewhat of a rural area with farming an active part of our economy we still celebrate the harvest each year. Starting in September you can find at least one event or fall festival to attend. As the summer work draws to an end, we like to get together and display some of our labor whether it be crops we have grown or crafts that we have made. Southern Indiana in the fall has always been an attraction to both Hoosiers and visitors to our State. With the rolling hills filled with forests there are many picture taking travelers on the roads.
One particular event that I love to attend is held near West Lafayette, Indiana along the Wabash River. The Feast Of The Hunters Moon is a combination re-enactment, pow-wow, and celebration. It honors the former Fort that was used by the French as they both protected the area and traded with the Native Americans who lived in the area at the time.
If you are looking for a place to see beautiful fall colors and meet some great hospitable people, come join us for autumn in Indiana.
