Top 5 Kidsbooks for Teaching and Learning Language Skills

What can a kid learn from a cat?

Upon discovering kidsbooks written by Brian P. Cleary, you know immediately that his cats totally capture the imaginations of children. They are goofy-looking, highly energetic, often frenetic, colorful cats who romp with kids, entertaining them while teaching them effortlessly the often-difficult subject of language skills. Children have so much fun with these books they don’t even realize they are learning as they laugh.

Can you rhyme with a dime at any time?

These wonderful kidsbooks do not depend on just the frolicking cats. In his series of books designed for teaching language skills (Words are CATegorical), Cleary creates silly, highly-entertaining rhymes using the parts of speech to which each book is dedicated. Teachers, parents and kids alike will find themselves quoting these rhymes in much the same way we learned the poetry of Dr. Seuss.

I’m here, I’m there, I’m everywhere!

The Words Are CATegorical  series has 17 books covering most of the important parts of speech that children need to understand for better reading and writing skills. He covers common subjects, such as nouns and verbs, but also deals with the more complicated things like adjectives, adverbs, synonyms, homonyms, and homophones. Parents and kids love these books, and school teachers and homeschoolers clamor for them!
